Fishing Magician Report - May 23rd

I made my first walleye trip of the year, and tried my luck at Moses Lake. I met a couple of fishing buddies at the ramp at Connelly Park and we headed up the lake. It was a stellar day to be out on the water. The sun was shining and there was just a slight breeze; nice for boating, but not the best conditions for walleye fishing. I like to have bit of a chop on the water, especially when fishing as shallow as we were. Excuses aside, we had a pretty good day. We put seven fish in the cooler and only turned one fish back that was just under the 12-inch minimum. The other walleye ranged in size from 12 to 18 inches. Nice eaters. I caught a fat yellow belly catfish that put up a good tussle, and we also wrestled with a carp that had to have weighed 15 pounds or more. It was a great shake down for the Jetcraft. It made fishing for walleye a real pleasure. The I-Pilot ran the boat and we just concentrated on what color the fish wanted that day. It turned out to be white. They will want something different next time, I'm sure.
