Vickie Brissey sweeps at the women's golf opener
CRESCENT BAR - Vickie Brissey had the hot clubs on May 3 at the season opener for the Women's Club at Crescent Bar Golf Course, finding the winner's circle four times.
The Crescent Bar Women chose one of the early spring's best days for their opener. It was mostly sunny and warm with some light breeze. They started the day with a 9 a.m. breakfast at the Sandtrap Restaurant.
Brissey was all over the scoreboard in division 2 competition. She posted the low gross score of 112 and the low net score of 70, which was also low for the field. She also delivered the long drive for her division.
The game of the day was the best nine holes out of the 18 played. Brissey posted a 24 in the net scoring only competition, and that score was low for the field.
There were several other winners on opening day. Mavis Bennett, who is the reporter for the club, appeared twice on the scoreboard. So did Jan Harris.
Bennett posted the low gross score of the field at 101 and won the first division. She tied for low net at 74 with Wilma DeLeeuw.
Harris scored a chip-in on the par-3 No. 14 hole. She won the first division game of the day with 28.
Wendy Smith was the first division long drive winner. Rose Olsen matched Harris's chip-in on No. 14.
Margaret Linder had closest to the pin (hole No. 3) for the second division with a tee shot that finished 36 feet, seven inches from the hole. No one qualified for that honor in division 1.
