Good weather greets men's golf season opener

CRESCENT BAR - The Crescent Bar Golf Course men's club took advantage of balmy weather on May 7 to kick off the new season.

The four-man scramble was preceded by a breakfast at the Sandtrap Bar and Grill and followed by a horse race.

Thirty-one golfers participated, including Harlan Beagley, Ted Escobar and Tom Hinde representing the Chronicle. Pro shop manager Tom Harris managed the scramble. Dennis Pihlman ran the horse race. 

Winners of the scramble were Jerry Riddle, Chuck Muller, Jon Bergman and Orlan Wood. 

Second place went to Dave Harris, Larry Strong, Al Barnes and Don McGinnis.

Kim McGuire, Bill Maloney, Chuck Motzkus and Terry Price finished in third.

First place in the horse race went to Craig Price and Jerry Riddle. Second place was won by Terry Price and Doug Carl.

Bill Parker and Bill Maloney took third place. Chuck Muller and Don McGinnis finished in fourth place.

Regular men's day golf is played on Wednesdays at 9 a.m. To join the club, call Tom Harris at the pro shop at 787-1511, ext. 25.
