Comment sought on generators
SPOKANE - The Washington State Department of Ecology invites the public to comment on a proposed "notice of construction" permit for the expansion of the Titan Data Center at Moses Lake.
The permit is a formal document that allows the company to install 14 new backup generators for use during power failures to support the facility's data servers.
The generators are powered by diesel engines. A DOE assessment showed that, although two pollutants in the exhaust may be at levels that require further scrutiny, they would still meet state and federal standards for safeguarding the public's health.
The public may comment in writing until June 3, 2011 to Greg Flibbert, Department of Ecology, Eastern Regional Office, 4601 N. Monroe, Spokane, WA 99205-1295.
