WENATCHEE - It's definitely not a 'high five' but it's a position the Moses Lake Chiefs girls golf team became acquainted with in 2011.

On Monday at the Three Lakes Golf Club (par 72) the Chiefs finished fifth at the Columbia Basin Big Nine District tournament with 85.5 points and their season ends as no individuals advanced to regionals as a top eight finisher.

"Overall the Chiefs did a great job this season showing great improvement over the course of the year," Moses Lake head coach Lonny Brown said. "We return 11 players next year so we are looking at further improvement."

Moses Lake's top finisher was Vannessa Goodwin who finished in 11th place with a 98. The junior missed a top eight spot by three strokes.

"Vannessa had a tough front nine shooting a 54 but battled back on the back nine with a 44 playing her way back into contention," Brown said.

Senior Jacy Jones shot a 104 and finished in 15th place. Kristi Brown also ended up in the top 20 with a 116 score, good enough for 19th.

Other Chiefs finishers were Katrina Ulnick (143) and Emily Dennis (149).

Richland won the team tournament with 166 points.
