Royal Knights split in prep softball with Ki-Be
ROYAL CITY - Lindsey Christensen and Shanna Seely tripled in a six-run second inning to lead Royal to an 11-8 prep softball win over Kiona-Benton in the second game of a South Central A Conference East doubleheader last week.
Making her first start, Sam Cera kept the Bears in check through four innings, leading 10-3. When she ran out of gas in the fifth inning and gave up five runs, Haley Delgado came in to mop up.
That was a reprieve for Delgado. She had pitched the first game, a 12-3 loss.
"She found her zone in the second game," coach Peter Christensen said.
Offensively, the first game was a matter of tough breaks for the Knights. They hit the ball consistently but right at defenders.
"We left people on second and third at least twice," Christensen said
