DUANE LEITZKE

I received a letter from my Moses Lake High School 1968

graduating counterpart, Bob Trask, about the passing of Duane

Leitzke.

I received a letter from my Moses Lake High School 1968 graduating counterpart, Bob Trask, about the passing of Duane Leitzke. I do not know what it is like attending Moses Lake schools right now, however, when I attended Moses Lake High School, we had the most uplifting, motivating and knowledgeable teachers that one could imagine. Like all kids, we had a lot of spirit and our teachers were able to direct that spirit in a positive direction, in all ways. One can find no finer example of a teacher with purpose, dedication and effective methods in allowing kids to learn while they grew up than our departed friend, Duane Leitzke. He had such fun with us. While he taught us serious academic subjects, he always made it fun and gave all of us the benefit of the doubt. He had a short memory when it came around to our misgivings and had a long memory with regard to his purpose as a teacher. My words in replying on Bob's email were short; we would not have been us without him. Duane Leitzke was a very good friend, a fine human being and a teacher who exemplified the profession. He was a damn fine man.
