NACHES - Despite making it to the South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC) district playoffs for the first time in recent memory, the Royal Knights would still like to make their visit a lasting one.

After last night's opening round 12-0 loss at Naches Valley, one of Class 1A's powerhouse programs, the Knights now face a win or go home proposition.

Friday, they travel to Zillah for a 4 p.m. loser out contest against the hosts, where the winner's hopes of a state berth will live on.

Zillah lost 7-4 to Burbank yesterday in another quarterfinal contest.

After last night, Royal hopes it could still be them.

Royal faced off with top Naches pitcher Cody Jahns,  a member of the Columbia Basin River Dogs team, and were held in check with only two total hits.

Naches cemented the win with a four-run third inning and a five-run fourth inning.

"Jahns pitched very well with seven strikeouts and no walks," Royal head coach Daren Christensen said. "Brady Dixon pitched well for us to. Naches is the number one ranked team and they showed us that tonight."
