WARDEN - The next Miss Warden will be crowned this Saturday in the Warden Elementary School gym.

Six young women are vying for the Miss Warden crown, said Susie Barr, president of the Warden Development Council.

The group is sponsoring the Miss Warden pageant.

"We are looking for someone to represent our town and we are fortunate this year to have six lovely girls working toward that," she said. The girls - who are freshmen, sophomores and juniors from Warden High School - are working hard on talents, current events, poise and personality for the pageant, said Barr.

The first place contestant receives a $500 scholarship.

The second place contestant receives a $300 scholarship.

The contestants are also working on a parade float, said Darlene Krueger, who organized the pageant and the float project. They plan to hit all the small town parades around Warden, she said, including the Moses Lake Moonlight Parade and Warden's Labor Day parade.

The first, second and third place contestants will ride on the float while the three runners-up walk beside it in the parade, said Barr.

The pageant is not affiliated with the Miss Washington or Miss America pageants.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the pageant starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday in the Warden Elementary School gym, located at 101 W. Beck Way.

Admission is free.
