Reader worries about perspective
It seems everyone has taken a side, but what about the side of
our community? We all have a responsibility to make it the best
that we can.
Recently, I came away from a meeting at MLHS with renewed hope in the future of our education system. The staff at MLHS have vision and very specific plans for achieving that vision for each student.
Do I still think there are problems in our schools and community? Yes. Do I think blaming or vilifying Mrs. Lynch or the teachers will help? No. If we don't like the way things are going maybe we should first look in the mirror and ask ourselves how our behavior is influencing others. It all starts with us. Just think of the good we could do if we each took just an hour a week to give service somewhere in our community.
I don't know Mrs. Lynch. I do not agree with her opinions, but she is a member of this community too. I choose to believe that she did not intentionally set out to hurt others, but just lost perspective for a moment. And even if that is not the case, who am I to cast the first stone?
I am disappointed that CBH didn't prevent this problem in the first place. However, I look at it from a community perspective, of all the dedicated people who work there. Are we so unforgiving that we will punish them for one mistake?
I love this community and the people who live here. May we step back and regain some perspective and come together as one.
