School facilities meeting planned

| May 4, 2011 6:00 AM

ROYAL CITY - The Royal School District Facilities Task Force, a community organization led by Luis Sanchez, will have a meeting on Monday, May 9, at the Red Rock Elementary Library.

According to RSD business manager Clinton Sherman, the group will gather to continue discussion of solutions to the district's school building crowding challenges.

The meeting will get under way at 6:30 p.m. Discussion is expected to include a possible construction bond election.

"Mr. Sanchez has asked the board not to take the bond off the table," Sherman said.

Sanchez discussed the committee's meetings at the last school board meeting on April 25. He said the committee needs more ideas in order to promote the bond.

Sanchez said the committee is growing and that additional members would be welcome, particularly from among civic leaders, faith leaders, teachers and students. He said "bumper stickers" have been suggested.
