Load fees meeting set

EPHRATA - The Grant County Board of Commissioners will have a meeting on May 11 to give residents a second chance to comment on proposed "unsecured load" fees for delivering refuse to landfills.

The proposed fees are $5 for passenger vehicles with capacities of 1-3 yards and $15 for trucks or other vehicles with more than three-yard capacities.

The meeting will be held in the commissioners hearing room at the county courthouse in Ephrata. It will get under way at 5:30 p.m.

According to Solid Waste Supervisor Janice Goeden, "unsecured  load" means a shipment of solid waste in or on a vehicle that is not covered with a tarp, is not inside a vehicle or otherwise secured or tied down.
