Elvira Burciaga Lopez
Elvira Burciaga Lopez, 82, longtime Othello resident went home to our Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 30, 2011 in Avalon Care Center in Othello, WA.
Elvira was born on July 10, 1928 in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico to Lucas and Juanita Burciaga Reyes. She was raised in Lerdo, Durango, Mexico. As a young mother she moved to Edinburg, Texas, and lived there from 1954 to 1964. She moved to Othello in 1968 with her family where she worked at Chef Reddy Foods as a trimmer. She became a U.S. citizen on July 26, 1995. She retired to help raise her grandchildren, tend her flowers and yard. Her passions included our Lord, 42 grandchildren, yard work, attending sporting events, novellas, WWE Wrestling, Mexican cooking, friends and loving family.
She is survived by her 3 sons Alberto Morales, Benjamin Ruiz, Jr. both of Othello, Martin Ruiz and Carol Scott AKA "Ella" of Pasco, 3 daughters Rosa Cantu (Raul) of Othello, Janie Ruiz of Vallejo, CA, and Celia Guzman (Charlie) of Moses Lake, and her large, loving extended family.
She was preceded in death by one son Lucas Lopez, 3 brothers, Jesus, Antonio and Angel, 3 sisters Carmen, Luz and Sara.
Viewing will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 616 E. Juniper, Othello, WA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011 also in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Following the Mass she will be cremated and laid to rest on her son's grave in Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens.
