EPHRATA - A chance to move closer to the Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) fell by the wayside for Othello as the Huskies dropped a 1-1 (5-3 shootout) decision at Ephrata on Saturday.

The host Tigers (4-10-1, 3-5) pulled the surprising win over a Huskies team that is now 6-2 in the CWAC and will have to beat Ellensburg for a shot at the league title when the teams meet tomorrow.

Othello was outshot 10-7.

Ociel Romero got the scoring started as the Huskie drove home a shot into the far post from 35 yards out and Othello had the lead heading into halftime.

The Tigers battled back to tie things at 1-1 when AJ Stortz scored after his shot deflected off of a Huskies in the 50th minute.

The two teams couldn't break through during the rest of regulation nor overtime, setting up the shootout.

Othello's second shot was saved by Ephrata Matt Helsley and the Tigers made all five of their shots to win.

The Tigers bounced back from a 3-0 loss on Thursday to arch rivals Quincy.

The host Jacks outshot Ephrata 11-6 and scored all their goals after a 0-0 first half of play.
