PREP BASEBALL: ACH 4-12, Wilbur/Creston 3-2
HARTLINE - The defending Class 1B state champions Almira/Coulee-Hartline moved a step closer to a Northeast 1B South league title with a 4-3, 12-2 sweep of rivals and no longer unbeaten, Wilbur/Creston on Saturday.
"For the past three years ACH and WC have battled for playoff position and this year is no different," ACH head coach Stuart Gloyn said. "WC is a well-coached team with good fundamentals and we have struggled with beating them in the regular season, especially at home."
In game one, ACH held on behind the 12 strikeouts by pitcher Jacob Olmstead as the Warriors (15-1, 8-0) need just one more win to clinch the league crown.
Drew Isaak improved to 4-0 on the season with a five strikeout performance in game two.
ACH had nine hits, and five of them came in a nine-run fourth inning that cemented the win.
Olmstead went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
