EPHRATA - The Ephrata Parks and Recreation Department needs donations.

The free teen flashlight Easter egg hunt has been held for the last four years and the recreation department is looking for donations to purchase prizes for this event.

"Kids bring their flashlights and hunt for Easter eggs," Jesse Throgmorton, recreation coordinator, said. "It's basically a mad grab to get all the eggs you can and find the golden egg."

Youths aged 11 to 18, who are still enrolled in school and have a valid student ID card, are eligible to participate in the event that sends kids in two age groups, 11-14 and 15-18, on hunts for eggs with numbers in them. The egg numbers are then turned in for chances to draw from prize tubs.

In addition to the two prize tubs, iPods are awarded to the finders of the golden egg for each age group.

The recreation department needs to collect donations to purchase prize tub items and iPods and must have the donations by April 15.

Throgmorton said donations can be gift cards or money.
