PREP BOYS BASEBALL: ACH 17-23, WELLPINIT 0-2

COULEE CITY - Almira/Coulee-Hartline improved to 4-0 as the defending Class 1B champions routed Wellpinit 17-0 and 23-2 in a Saturday doubleheader.

Wellpinit helped the ACH cause with 15 errors over the two games.

In game one, ACH's Jacob Olmstead pitched a perfect game as he struck out 13 over five innings. He also hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning.

Kye Stevens went 2-for-4 with four RBI.

" Jacob had great control of his fastball, splitter and change-up today," ACH head coach Stuart Gloyn said. "He worked ahead in the count and was dominating in only his second outing of the year. I was also pleased with our hitting which is steadily improving."

In the second game, Brandon Boutain pitched for the win allowing only three hits while striking out five.

Colin Deyarmin hit a third-inning grand slam and Olmstead hit another three-run home run for ACH.

"Brandon had to deal with tough mound conditions and cold/wet weather for his second win on the year," Gloyn said. " I was happy with progress as the game progressed, he gained control of his fastball and his change of speeds kept the hitters off-balance all day."
