PASCO - A tough first half of play was enough to dig too deep of a hole for the Moses Lake soccer team which dropped its second Big Nine game of the year, 3-1 at Chiawana on Saturday.

Moses Lake (1-3-1, 0-2) fell into a 2-0 deficit after the match's first 31 minutes and then saw their hosts strike again in the 58th minute to lead 3-0.

A.J. Montes scored in the 71st minute for Moses Lake, off of a Derrick Gonzales assist.

"We were just outplayed from whistle to whistle," Moses Lake head coach Bill Bertram said.  "We lacked intensity in our midfield and made fundamental mistakes up-top with seven offsides calls against us. Our younger players are still learning their roles."
