OTHELLO - The rains came just in time for the Othello boys and a bit too early for the Lady Huskies.

On Thursday, Othello's tennis teams played host to Selah in Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) play and before the storms got really going the Huskie boys held on for a 3-2 win while the girls trailed 2-1 after the dual was suspended due to rain.

They will continue the final two unfinished matches on May. 3 when the two teams meet in Selah to determine the team winner.

The boys, split singles play but pulled out a 2-1 edge in doubles to move to 2-0 overall in the CWAC.

Benn Taff won 6-0, 6-2 at number two singles to salvage a point from there and then the doubles took over.

Marcus Garza and Wesley Cogswell captured a dominating 6-0, 6-2 victory at number one doubles, while Austin Roylance and Gabe Harris recorded a 6-2, 6-4 win at number two doubles.

The number three team of Callen Anderson and Juan Guitetrez were down a set when the rains began to fall but the team had already clinched the win.

Winning the only girls match for Othello was the number one doubles team of Jocelyn Cantu and Emma Hymus who recorded a clutch 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 win.

The Lady Huskies dropped both singles matches in two sets.

Both of the number two and three doubles matches were in the midst of a first set when they were suspended.
