FORGOTTEN SOLDIERS

Reader would like to see memorial created

I feel we have let down the families who lost their loved ones here in Moses Lake during the Korean War. Eighty-seven soldiers tragically lost their lives at Larson Air Force base on Dec. 20, 1952, when their airplane crashed here. I feel a little ashamed, as a citizen of Grant County, that there is no memorial for these soldiers. I am hoping that I am not the only one who feels we need to make a memorial for the forgotten soldiers who died in our backyard. The Moses Lake Lions Club has started taking donations to make a memorial with all the names of the 87 soldiers listed so they will never be forgotten. I feel the timing is right for our community to show the Air Force our appreciation for their sacrifices they make every day by serving our country, during their temporary stay in Moses Lake. I am hopeful our community is willing to come together and never forget this tragic accident and support our troops. We need a memorial for the 87 forgotten soldiers!
