EPHRATA - Score-wise Ephrata lost to visiting Cashmere 4-0 on Tuesday night.

Or did they?

According to Ephrata head coach Keith Laughlin, their guests were cruising along with 4-0 lead built before halftime, when in the second half before everything went pear-shaped.

"In the second half we possesed more and frustrated them to the point that after a foul and stoppage of play they walked off the field," Laughlin said. "It was the strangest thing I have ever seen. I am not sure how this whole thing will play out."

Cashmere left Ephrata High School's field about five minutes prematurely.

According to the rules the action would warrant a forfeit loss, Laughlin said.

Up until the premature end, Ephrata was outshot 8-5.

Laughlin said he would hear about a decision hopefully within a week about a decision on the non-league contest.
