Big Bend All-Star Classic tomorrow

MOSES LAKE  - The Big Bend Lady Vikings basketball program will sponsor their annual high school all-star game for seniors from the Columbia Basin in the 2011 Big Bend All-Star Classic tomorrow night.

Start time is at 7:30 p.m. at the Peter DeVries Activity Center.

This will be the fourth annual game and will feature players from Moses Lake, Moses Lake Christian Academy, Connell, Quincy, Almira/Coulee-Hartline high schools and several other players from eastern Washington. 

Also featured will be a three-point contest at halftime and awards for most valuable players from the North and South teams will be presented after the game.

Admission is $5 for adults,  $4 for students, and 10-years-old-and-under are free.

Lady Vikings assistant coaches Lucy Char and Jay Dickinson will coach the North and South squads, respectively.

"This all-star event is a great showcase of the best basketball talent the Basin has to offer," Big Bend head coach Preston Wilks said. "Last year's game was very well attended and featured six players from that game that went on and played for the Lady Vikings this past season.  This is the last chance for hoop junkies in the basin to watch their favorite senior players and we hope that the community will come out and continue to support this event."

The announced rosters for the two teams are:

NORTH SQUAD:

Kayla Bernsen (Moses Lake High School, 6'4"), Magie Munoz (Moses Lake High School, 5'9"), Tasha Gentry (Moses Lake High School, 5'6"), Kristina Firouzi (Moses Lake Christian Academy, 5'2"), Nikki Osborne (Almira/Coulee-Hartline, 5'10"), Sarah Gloyn (Almira/Coulee-Hartline, 5'6"), Justyne Talkington (Odessa-Harrington, 5'5"), and Lacey Hirst (Odessa-Harrington, 5'8").

SOUTH SQUAD:

Desiree Durfee (Quincy High School, 5'5"), Kayla Bjorge (Connell, 5'3"), Brooke Gibbons (Connell, 5'10"), Maci Whitby (Connell, 5'8"), Shelby Ellsworth (Chiawana, 5'11"), Zara Reynolds (Asotin, 5'8"), Lindsay Cole (Warden, 5'5"), and JoAnna Quezada (Othello, 5'5").
