OUTLOOK: Being led into a new season with one of the premiere golfers in the state is something most programs would be jealous of.

Coach Hewitt has that luxury with junior Andrew Whalen, who comes off a strong 2010 season when he took third at the Class 2A finals.

But Whalen may not be the team's only calling card as the 10-year Ephrata coaching veteran Hewitt has plenty of talent to work with.

"Cody, Mattias, Andrew, and Bryan all experienced state last year and expectations are still high for these guys," Hewitt said.

Heer came on midway through the campaign last year as a freshman and could play a big role for the Tigers in 2011.

One thing that could make things interesting is a new regional playoff to follow district play, making a run to a state bid that much tougher.

"We don't really know how all things will turn out adding a regional match," Hewitt said. "But I expect that my guys will compete at a high level with integrity and determination."
