Soap Lake teen dies

SOAP LAKE - Pavel Turchick, 17, Soap Lake, died Saturday evening from injuries sustained in a car wreck on Feb. 20.

The wreck took the life of Sheila Rosenberg, 17, Soap Lake, when she was ejected from the 2001 Pontiac Sunfire. They were driving on Road 20 Northeast when she reportedly hit a driveway culvert, leading to the crash.

Turchick was also ejected from the car and transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for treatment of critical injuries.

Both teenagers were reportedly not wearing seat belts at the time of the wreck, according to the sheriff's office.

Speed and alcohol are suspected to be factors in the wreck.

The sheriff's office is investigating the wreck.

Rosenberg was remembered for her love of school sports, including volleyball, basket ball and track. Friends and family of the girl held a vigil for the teen on Feb. 21.

Family members have set up a donation account at US Bank called the Sheila Mae Rosenberg Memorial.
