Covington man died near Potholes

| March 2, 2011 5:00 AM

EPHRATA - John Bothell, 81, Covington, was found dead near the Potholes Reservoir Friday.

He was found roughly 20 feet from his pickup, where he collapsed while retrieving duck decoys with a sled, according to Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones.

Deputies located Bothell on Road C Northeast, about 1.73 miles from state Route 262, on Friday morning.

"There were no signs of foul play," said Jones.

Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison said the man's death was related to hypothermia.

"We believe this is part of the cause of death, but we're not through with the investigation," Morrison said.

A toxicology report is due within six weeks, which could help establish a complete cause of death, he added.
