She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on March 20, 1922. She married Darrell Ries in Bethany,Missouri on February 21, 1942. Following the war, she and Darrell and their two sons moved to Moses Lake in 1949. She was a complex woman with a determined and competitive spirit. She loved golf and bridge, and was involved for many years on the board of the Washington Women's Golf Association, serving as its president at various times. She was the only woman ever elected president of the Moses Lake Golf & Country Club, serving in that position for two years. She was serving her third term as president of the Hearthstone Resident's Association at the time of her passing. She had just recently renewed her membership in the National Duplicate Bridge Association. She was proud of her accomplishments.

She was preceded in death by her husband Darrell. She is survived by her sons, Ronald Ries, and his wife Janet, and Harry Ries, all of Moses Lake. She is survived by four grandchildren: Christopher Ries, and his wife LeaAnne, Kimberly Ashley, and her husband Justin, all of Moses Lake, AnnMarie Sweeney and her husband Jeremy of Federal Way, and Greg Ries and his wife Ginger, of Francis, Utah. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Peyton, Sydney, Savannah, Everett, Hunter and Chandler.
