ROYAL CITY - Participants are being sought for the 2011 Royal City Summerfest Grand Parade, and committee chairwoman Julierae Castleton hopes entries sign up sooner rather than later.

"It seems we always get last-minute entries, and that's fine by me, but it makes things easier if people sign up early," she said.

The parade will be held on Saturday, July 9, starting at 10 a.m. Entries that are not interested in awards can arrive at the old Red Rock Elementary staging area at 9 a.m. Those that wish to be judged need to be there by 8:30.

Categories for the parade will be: autos (antiques, specialty, replica), drill units (bands, dance, other), novelty (single, group), antique tractors, farm equipment, commercial, horses (group, single, other, pooper-scooper required), pooper-scoopers (single, group).

For further information, you may call Castleton at 346-2287 or 208-301-1607. You may email her at parade@rcsummerfest.org or go to the website rcsummerfest.org.

So far, Castleton said, musical organizations include the Royal High School band and a Mexican Mariachi. In addition to Royal City, community floats from Warden, Connell and Ritzville are scheduled.

Also scheduled are local rodeo queen Lacey Goroski and the Grant County Fire Districts Nos. 10 11.
