Woodrow Wallace Coder

| June 23, 2011 6:15 AM

Woodrow Wallace Coder was born November 13, 1924 in Ulysses, Kansas to Alfred and Jessie (Bosler) Coder. He moved with his family to Washington state when 7 years old. He attended school in Granger, Washington and there met the love of his life. He married Barbara Mae Fraser February 18, 1949 and they just celebrated their 62nd anniversary.

Wally loved the outdoors, particularly working, camping, fishing and gardening. His work took the couple across the Pacific Northwest as he was employed at the Granger Brickyard, the mills in Madras, Oregon, Shelton and Ford, Washington. He worked for 20 years for the BSNF railroad. After retirement, he enjoyed working in his yard and garden in Wilson Creek, where they made their home for the past 30 years.

In the years since retirement, Wally and Barb have enjoyed the good times with friends and family at Pier 4 Resort in Moses Lake. They enjoyed their motor home and the company of their poodle, Mandy. She was a regular fishing companion in the boat with Wally, a source of great joy for him.

Wally and Barb had just one child, a son, Roger. Tragically, he was killed in a car accident when only 16 years of age. It is fitting that Wally passed away on Father's Day and the opportunity for reunion with his son.

Wally is survived by his sweetheart and companion, Barbara, also brothers: George (Margie) of Kent, Howard of Wapato, Russell of Zillah, and Dale (Betty) of Zillah and Dick (Sara) of Toppenish; sisters: Teddy Bridger of Zillah, Mary (Von) Bedker of Zillah, Maxine Walker of Tacoma and Janice Bottineau of Prosser and in-laws: James (Kathy) Fraser, John Fraser, Sandra (Mike) Wright, and Donna (Vic) White.

Wally was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Jessie; son Roger; sister Mina and many brothers and sisters in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Wally and Barb were a team that loved one another very much. Together they shared many wonderful experiences and forged deep and lasting friendships with so many.

Please contact Carver Funeral home website www.carverfamilyfuneralhome.com to express condolences online to Barb and the family. Final arrangements for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
