The Planning Commission is a five-member volunteer body that provides the community with planning and land use guidelines. The commission meets on the third Monday of each month to update regulations, hold formal public hearings, review land use applications, and often acts in a quasi-judicial manner to resolve appeals from staff decisions and/or the interpretation of land use regulations. The Commissioners recommend to the City Council changes to the land use chapters in the Othello Municipal Code, provide interpretation to the zoning code, and make land use decisions consistent with the Othello Municipal Code Title 19. Each year, one member is appointed or reappointed by the Mayor, confirmed by the City Council, and serves a six-year term providing consistency and historical relevancy to development decision. Further information regarding the Planning Commission can be obtained by calling the City's Building and Planning Official at 488-3302.
