Walleyes drop all four weekend contests

MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Walleyes fell to 0-8 overall and in league play as the Junior American Legion AA Division squad dropped four match ups this weekend. Jr.

At West Valley in Spokane, the Walleyes lost 15-11 and 12-5 on Friday and followed that up with a doubleheader loss at the hands of Richland, 6-2 and 13-4 at Larson Field on Saturday.

"We are swinging the bats pretty well overall," Moses Lake head coach Quintz Whitaker said. "But their is more to this game than just swinging it.  We are scuffling with our gloves and on the mound.  We just need to get back to the fundamentals, throwing strikes, catching the ball, and playing catch."

In the first game against West Valley, the Walleyes were up 5-3 before their hosts erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the third inning to take control.

Moses Lake had 14 hits and were led by the contingent of Brad Fox, Eliott Sage, Gunner Raymond, Jordan Hooper, and Jacob Price, who all had two hits apiece. Raymond led the team with four RBI and Hooper hit the squad's only home run in the game.

In the second loss to West Valley, the hosts scored four runs in the second, fourth, and sixth innings to dominate play. The Walleyes had six hits, with a half dozen players all knocking out one hit.

After returning home, the Walleye bats cooled a bit in their first game loss to Richland, who held Moses Lake to seven hits.

Raymond and Hooper each had two base knocks to lead the team.

Fox pitched a complete game, and struck out three while giving up 10 hits and six earned runs.

Richland scored five runs in the top of the first inning of the second game to take an early lead and never looked back.

Moses Lake did record nine hits with Raymond and Hooper again registering two apiece.

Hooper also had a team-high two RBI.

Sage and Hooper shared pitching duties in the loss.

"We will keep working hard to make our own breaks and get something positive started," Whitaker said. "We will rally together and get this ball rolling."
