Clifford Giese

Clifford Giese, 80, of Spokane passed away June 8 after declining health during the last year. Clifford was born at the family farm near Ruff, Washington on September 4, 1930, the youngest child of eleven of August and Magdelena (Jeske) Giese. He attended school in Odessa, Washington. He was baptized on April 7, 1939 and became a full member of the English Congregational Church in Odessa on April 2, 1944.

Clifford served in the Army from 1950 to 1953. He was wounded in action in North Korea on October 19, 1951 and was awarded the Purple Heart. After finishing his tour in the Army, he returned to the family ranch where he took over the farming duties from his father.

Clifford married Jeanette Shadduck on June 7, 1957 in Spokane and lived at the family farm until 1970. He moved to Moses Lake at that time and continued to farm until 1980. Clifford worked at U & I Sugar factory in Moses Lake during the winters when he wasn't farming until the plant closed in 1979. Clifford enjoyed roller skating, bowling, fishing, camping, and attending the State B basketball tournaments for years in Spokane. One of his most favorite activities was his daily trips to McDonalds in Moses Lake to have coffee and visit with his good friends at the restaurant. Clifford and Jeanette moved from Moses Lake to Spokane in 2005.

He is survived by his wife Jeanette of 54 years, his daughter Cindy Endahl, grandsons Vince and William Endahl, one great granddaughter Ana Endahl and his one remaining sister Marie DeWitt.

Clifford will be laid to rest at the State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 11:15AM
