MOSES LAKE - The owners of Sunland Inn are introducing their Irish pub to Moses Lake during a soft opening Wednesday.

The new business, Tymmy O'Shea's Irish Pub, at 101 W. Broadway Ave., is owned by Scotty Tymczyszyn and Eric Hall.

They are also business partners at the Sunland Inn locations in Moses Lake and Ephrata.

There are plans to have Sunland Inn employee Jayme De Boer manage the pub, Tymczyszyn explained.

They have been busy completing major building renovations and hiring employees.

Seven employees were hired, with one more bartender to bring on.

"We have a really good crew," Tymczyszyn said in part.

The people he hired "have pretty incredible personalities," he commented.

They are getting along together well, he said.

Once open, male employees wear kilts and female employees don bar maid outfits.

Guiness, Harp lager, Stella Artois, Mac and Jack, and Irish Death are some of the beers offered.

They are creating a small food menu.

The pub's focus is providing music by featuring bands from both sides of the state.

"Moses Lake is missing something," he commented. "I want to keep people on Third Avenue, between Saucy Hog and Sporty's. When people want a really nice place to go they can come here."

The pub is right in the middle of the town's bar scene.

He is glad he decided to open the business this summer, as he can see nearby buildings being rented.

The focal point of the pub is the Brazilian cherry bar, made by Jerry Stromberg, of Othello. Stromberg also does flooring.

"He pushed his limits," De Boer said. "He pulled it off."

The bar took Stromberg a month to build. He also helped with the building's demolition and construction.

Tymczyszyn commented how other businesses helped him during the building's renovations.

He enjoyed the support shown by the community, Grant County Economic Development Council, Vision 2020 and Moses Lake Business Association.

City employees and the state Liquor Control Board have been easy to work with.

Moses Lake Mayor Jon Lane and EDC President Ron Covey even stopped by to show their support.

Other community members are even checking the place out, De Boer commented.

It isn't the first time the location was used as a bar.

Tymczyszyn explained that 30 years ago, it was a bar called "The Corral," which took up 4,000 square feet.

He even hears the owner looked like him.

The location is now half that size, at 2,000 square feet and was gutted, with new plumbing and electrical work done.

The grand opening is set for June 24. The band "Free Beer Nuts" is performing.

The pub opens at 3 p.m., seven days a week.
