TACOMA - Before heading off to the Air Force Academy in late June, Christine Kirkwood decided to add a little more to her legacy as one of the best athletes to graduate from Othello High School.

The Lady Huskie captured her third straight Class 2A javelin title and in the process broke the meet mark with a throw of 167'9" at Mt. Tahoma High School on Thursday.

Kirkwood now owns the Washington high school record of 173'9" and recently broke the Pasco Invitational record (166'9").

Other Columbia Basin Athletes that made their presence felt at the Class 2A finals were Ephrata's Christian Nuckolls who took third in the boys' long jump (20'1.75") and Luke Grigg of Quincy who finished fourth in the pole vault (14').

Other top ten finishes included Ephrata's Kristen McDonnell (eighth, javelin, 112'2") and Quincy's Ian Huxtable (seventh, long jump, 19'7"), Armando Tafoya (seventh, shot put, 48'11"), and Michael Veenendaal (seventh, pole vault, 13').
