Warm weather, great racing

EPHRATA - Warm weather finally made its way to eastern Washington which helped bring out a great crowd.

It was not only a fun night of local racing, but a fun night filled with water balloons and lots of kids.

Jatender Veenstra brought out balloons for the kids to have a water balloon tossing contest, which was a big hit, and then Kirk Family Racing brought more balloons for a water fight with the big cars.

In the Kim Janke State farm Agent Youth Hornets, Andrew Razey makes it five in a row in a dominating fashion. Patrick Hector made his way up to Andrews bumper but it wasn't enough to hold him off. Third went to Mykkal Mulalley.

Pepsi Street Stocks saw Jason Ray take the lead right off the bat. Shad Darwood was catching Ray and looking like he was going to make the pass, but coming out of turn two at about the half way point Mike Bise makes contact with Darwood, sending both to the infield. Skimming to the green, white, checkered finish, Jason Ray got the jump and pulled away. Rick Bretches had second in sight and right at the checkered the 99 of Tyler Redin goes on the inside of Bretches. It was close and Bretches kept second with the local Pure Stock racer Bradd Arneson making his first start in a Street Stock, coming in third.

The 360 Sprints turned into a race between the Smith Brothers. Joe Smith took the lead from Doug Peters with Adam Smith following in second for the remainder of the 20 lap race with Tom Beierman coming in Third.

In the Jerry's Auto Supply Big Cars, the main event was chaotic to say the least. Water balloons, driving around a tire, made for a very entertaining event. Making his way through the carnage, Dallas White in his first start with the Big Cars, would get the win.

This upcoming Saturday's racing will be the Pepsi Cola sponsored Early Stocks, Ephrata Pioneer Muffler II Pure Stocks, Schaeffer Oil Mini Stocks and the Super Stocks.
