Lucas, Brissey big winners in women's golf

CRESCENT BAR - Playing in the first division, Marian Lucas put her name on the honors board four times at the July 5 women's day competition at Crescent Bar Golf Course.

Tied with Lucas with four honors of her own was second division player Vickie Brissey.

Lucas won the game of the day - 9 holes selected beforehand by the player - with a 24.5. Players deducted half handicaps.

Lucas was the division winner of the closest-to-the-pin (KP) competition at hole No. 5. She landed her tee shot 38-4 from the hole. She also had a chip-in at hole No. 10.

Lucas had the shot of the day on her second stroke on No. 5 when she drained that 38-4 putt for birdie. Roe Olsen also scored birdie, on hole No. 15.

Brissey was the division 2 low gross (115) winner and low net (73 winner. She was tied by Tressa Kleyn for low net.

Brissey was also the division 2 game of the day winner with a 30. And she made birdie on hole No. 9.

In division 1, Mavis Bennett was the gross winner with 99 and Margaret Linder was the net winner with 69.

The long drive contests, on hole No. 6, were won by Carol Prinzen in the first division and Susie Filipovich in the second division.

Laurie Leahy won the second division KP with a second shot that finished 6-4 from the hole.

Awarded on this day was the monthly medal for June. Jan Harris won division 1. Kathy Kniep won division 2. Both had a best net score of 71 for the month.
