Sidewalk project to go to bids

MATTAWA - The Mattawa City Council has authorized Mayor Judy Esser to seek construction bids for the sidewalk project on Boundary Street.

The total cost estimate for the project is $115,000. That includes the cost of design engineering by Gray & Osborne of Yakima.

According to City Clerk Robin Newcomb, the council hopes to open bids by mid-August.

In other municipal projects news, Public Works Director Gary Crowder reported that the Scata computer system update for the sewer plant is on schedule and nearing completion.

Crowder reported that his department is patching streets with asphalt. He added that fire hydrants will be flushed this week.
