Steven Ormsby

Born September 18,1960 in Tracy, CA to Thomas W. and Roberta J. Ormsby. Steve died on June 24, 2011 at Deaconess Medical Center from asthma complications. Steve moved to Moses Lake, Wa. on February of 1975 and graduated in 1978 from Moses Lake High School. Steve joined the Coast Guard in 1978 and served on the USCGC Yocona, a driver-class rescue and salvage ship. He achieved the rank of Bosuns Mate. Steve did various jobs after the Coast Guard and was a commercial painter. Steve married Mary Uribe on June of 1996. Steve's greatest joy in life was his family. Steve enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and was known for his tamales and barbeque. He was a Mariner's and Seahawk's fan, enjoyed shooting guns and had a great interest in history and world affairs. Steve had a great love for people and had many close friends.

Steve is survived by his wife, Mary Ormsby, daughter, Sofia Uribe, and son, James Ormsby, all of Moses Lake, Wa., father, Thomas W. Ormsby and stepmother, Leslie Ormsby in Lone Pine, Mt., sister, Victoria Ormsby and nephew, Dustin Quaschnick in Spokane, Wa., brother, Marc T. Ormsby and sister-in-law, Jesie Ormsby in Juneau, Alaska. Our step-brother and step-sister and their spouses, Johnny and Theresa Crisp, and Gary and Kelly Paddock, all of Kalispel, Mt. He is also survived by his aunts, Louella Sexsmith, Jeanne Ormsby, Willeen Jones Hutchins and uncle, John Ormsby, cousins, Sharon Oster, Sandra Wheeler, John Ormsby III, Ron Ormsby, Joe Ormsby, Suzanne Auerback, Whitney Sexsmith, Heidi Gibson and Larissa Hanpeter, and Scott Worley, our unofficially adopted brother. Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta J. Ormsby.

Many thanks to all of our good friends in Moses Lake and Tri-Cities for your prayers for Steve, and your emotional and practical support through all of this. You are outstanding people! A Benevolent Fund has been set up for donations for the Family Expenses through Sterling Savings Bank in Moses Lake.

A celebration of Life for Steve will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Moses Lake South Campus Event Center, off of Nelson Road, between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
