CRESCENT BAR - The ladies of the Crescent Bar Golf Course hosted their counterparts from Colockum Ridge (Quincy) Golf Course at their regular women's day on Jun 28 and were treated to some special golf by Colockum's Jan Hageson.

Hageson scored an eagle-3 on the par-5, 427-yard 4th hole en route to an 89 that was low for the field by several strokes. She sank a 20-yard chip shot for her three.

"It was amazing," said playing partner Margaret Linder. "She is so good and so strong. She hit her drive down to the dog-leg on No. 7."

Linder and women's club reporter Mavis Bennett said that, to their knowledge, Hageson's is the lone ladies eagle ever on the hole.

"That's pretty spectacular," said pro shop manager Tom Harris, who can't remember a woman ever making eagle on the hole.

Harris has played with Hageson several times, and he particularly admires her power. He noted the first two shots on her eagle averaged 200 yards.

"She's fun to play with, and she's a very good golfer," he said.

According to Bennett, Hageson's tee shot went beyond the big tree on the right, which is about 230 yards out.

"The guys think they're doing well if they get it to the electrical box (200 yards)," she said.

According to Linder, Hageson holds a 17 handicap but was a 9-handicapper "in her younger days."

In other action, Bennett resumed her customary place atop the division 1 net scoring with 96. Wendy Smith (CB) was the gross scoring leader in division 2 with 106.

In net scoring, Judy Oldfather of Colockum Ridge won division 1 with 70. Wendy Smith (CB) shot 64 to win division 2. Low net of the field went to Lyn Murray (CB) with 64.

The division 1 long drive contest, on hole No. 1, went to Mary Woolverton (CB). Linda Hayes (CB) had long drive in division 2.

The long putt competition, on hole No. 9/18 went to Linda Quintanilla (CB).

The closest-to-the-pin competition went to Eileen Hoene (CB) in division 1 with a tee shot that finished 28-5.5 from the hole. Wendy Smith (CB) won division 2 with a second shot that landed 15-4 from the hole.

The game of the day was the dice game. It was won by the team of Bennett (CB) Marian Lucas (CB), Jan Harris (CB) and Debbie Bolt of Colockum Ridge with a 107.
