DESERT AIRE - Poor weather kept some planes from making an appearance, but the spirits of the locals were as high as ever for the fifth annual Desert Aire Fly-in Breakfast on June 18.

"We cleared about $1,600, which is comparable to last year, even though fewer airplanes were able to join us," spokeswoman Linda Strand said.

"We didn't have many airplanes join us. However, we had wonderful support from the community, who stood in line, sometimes in the rain, for a great breakfast," she added.

Attending the breakfast that raises funds for Desert Aire Airport maintenance were 346 people. Five planes from as far away as Hillsboro, Oregon and Bellingham flew in.

"Many thanks to the community and especially all of the volunteers who helped with the breakfast," Strand said.
