Special Election - Proposition 1

Proposition Authorizing Restoration of Property Tax Levy

Grant County Fire Protection District No. 10 Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution No. 2011-05 to support continued finances of maintenance, operations and capital facilities. This measure restores the District's 2011 regular property tax levy of $1.00 per $1000.00 of assessed valuation which is an increase of 13.664 cents over the District's current levy, for collection in 2012, changes the limit factor from 101% to 106% for each of the five succeeding years and provides that the maximum allowable levy in 2016 shall be used to determine future increases as allowed by Chapter 84.55 RCW.

Emergency Medical Care And Service Levy

Shall Grant County Fire Protection District No. 10 be re-authorized to impose a regular property tax levy of $.25 or less per thousand dollars of assessed valuation on all taxable property within the District, for a period of six consecutive years beginning in 2011 for collection in 2012, for the continued support of the District's provision of emergency medical care and emergency medical services.

The registration deadline for online registrations, mail-in registrations and transfers is July 18, 2011. Any qualified elector who is not registered to vote in the State of Washington may register to vote in person at the Auditor's Office up to and including August 8, 2011.

You can register or obtain registration forms at the Auditor's Office, on line at www.vote.wa.gov, and Department of Licensing.

The Grant County Auditor's Office, 35 C St NW, Room 203, at the County Courthouse, will be open so voters may obtain replacement ballots, drop off voted ballots, obtain provisional ballots, and use the Accessible Voting, at the following times:

Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM - July 27 - August 15, 2011

On Election Day only, August 16, 2011, 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM

The only other ballot drop off location for the August 16, 2011 Primary, Election Day Only

Voters needing additional information or assistance with voter registration forms or voting, may call

(509) 754-2011, Ext 377 or 423. Voters unable to use the mail-in ballot, may use the Accessible Voting Unit available at the County Auditor's Office.

Ballots require sufficient first class postage and must be postmarked by the day of election. Check with your local Post Office for deadlines to have your ballot postmarked properly.

August 24, 2011 2:00 PM to determine the status of any provisional or challenged ballots-Election Dept. - Room 203, Courthouse, Ephrata, WA

August 31, 2011 11:00 AM to canvass the votes cast and certify the election
