Carol Ditty
Carol Ditty passed away peacefully at home on June 22, 2011. She was born in Baker Oregon on May 27, 1934 to Glenn and Vivian Smith. The childhood home was in Pondosa, a lumber mill town in the Blue Mountains. After graduating from Union High School, she worked in a lumber mill office and then a Pharmacy Co. In later years she worked for Sears and the Oregon Forestry. When the folks moved to the farm, she enjoyed visiting and helping on the farm in Warden. In Feb. 1962, she married Bob Ditty and subsequently adopted his boys, Dwight and Byron. While they lived in Quincy she became a super-duper bowler and for many years was on local teams and travel teams. She and Bob both loved the mountains and they spent as much time as possible at their home in Granite, Oregon, fishing, mining, mushrooming and wood gathering. Among other hobbies were knitting and quilting. A Warden resident since 1968, she loved having nieces, nephews, and grandchildren for summer visits to the farm. Husband, Bob preceded Carol in death in 2000, as well as son Dwight in 2007. She leaves behind Luwana Ditty, Byron (Verna) Ditty. Grandchildren, Gregory (Kristen) Ditty, Kriston (Ko) Weyns, Mark (Becky) Ditty, Deanna (Reese) Olney, 10 great grandchildren, sister Dona Sartin, Uncles Ken E Smith (JoyAnn) and Cecil Smith (Adeline). Many nieces, nephews and cousins. And her loving caregiver of 17 years, Janie Martinez. Memorial Services will be at the graveside on July 16, 2011 at Pioneer Memorial Gardens at 1:30 p.m.
