Merle Chamberlain

| July 1, 2011 6:00 AM

Merle A. Chamberlain, 77, passed away from a recent illness amid loving family on June 25th. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, 3 sons, a sister, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Merle was a brilliant engineer and showed signs of genius and leadership at a young age. He had an adventurous side being the subject of the 50's hit - "Hot Rod Lincoln". He met his sweetheart after high school and they married and had 3 sons. They traveled extensively across the west as an oil drilling engineer for Baroid and Standard Oil. They later settled in Blackfoot, ID when his sons began school. He worked at American Potato (later known as Basic American Foods) for over 30 years. The family moved to Moses Lake in the mid-60's and he spent the last 12 years retired. He loved fishing, hunting, shooting and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. His grandson put it best, "My Grandpa can fix anything." Per Merle's wishes, there will be only a private memorial service for family and close friends.
