Chiefs drop first dual decisions

| January 29, 2011 5:00 AM

MOSES LAKE - Heading into Tuesday's triangular meet with Big 9 top dogs Richland and upstart Hanford, the Moses Lake Chiefs' swim team came in unbeaten and ready to move forward.

Unfortunately, they fell short in finishing the regular season off the way they came into the twin duals, losing 125-60 to Hanford and 107-79 to Richland.

"It was a great opportunity to see our swimmers have best times in a league championship event," Chiefs head coach Tony St. Onge said. "As a coach that is what I want to see out of a team. "Richland was a top three 4A team at state championships last year and at this meet they were pushed hardest all year and I'm proud of that."

Cited for top performances were, Reid Jackson (500 and 200-yard freestyle), Parker Merkley (100 and 50-yard freestyle), Jacob Price (100-yard breaststroke and 50-yard freestyle), Brandon Emerson (100-yard breaststroke), and Damian Cacchiotti (50-yard freestyle).
