'Living Legends' to appear in Moses Lake
With intricate footwork, beautiful dresses, and energetic music, Alfredo Carrera and Liz Ricardo capture the soul of Mexican traditional dances. Brigham Young University's Living Legends communicates a message of discovery and hope to people all over the world.
Traditions come to life with the intricate costumes and authentic choreography displayed here by Jerad Todacheenie and Jason Jansen, members of BYU's Living Legends, as they perform a men's fancy dance.
MOSES LAKE - Native American, Polynesian and Latin American dance and music are being performed at Moses Lake High School.
A Brigham Young University production, "Living Legends" celebrates cultural heritage from North and South America as well as the South Pacific through talented performers of native descent.
From Hawaiian hula to Mexican fiesta dances, Living Legends reflects the cycle of civilization.
Two public performances take place at 5 p.m. and one at 8 p.m. on Feb. 1 at the Moses Lake High School, located 803 Sharon Ave.

Living Legends is currently on a 10-day tour of the Pacific Northwest. Traveling by bus, the group brings more than 5,000 pounds of costumes, props, and production equipment throughout Washington and Idaho, performing seven major concerts and doing outreach performances and activities in cities like Olympia, Moses Lake and Boise.
Outreach programs in Moses Lake will be at Discover Elementary and Chief Moses Middle School on Monday, January 31st.
Last year, Living Legends dazzled audiences in China for the first time in 18 years. In addition, the ensemble was selected to represent the United States at the World Expo in Shanghai, where they performed on the American Square Stage for an audience of 8,000, and participated in a parade for more than 300,000 spectators.
"It's a phenomenal show," says BYU Alumni Arts and Music Representative Carrie Welty, "They just finished being in China, I mean these guys travel the world. We don't get groups this big very often, and these performers are from all over."
Since 1971 audiences around the globe have enjoyed Living Legends performances, including the queen of Thailand, the governor general of Jamaica and queen of Denmark.
