Girls basketball: OTHELLO 76, Toppenish 61

OTHELLO - So went the monkey with a classic performance by Othello Lady Huskie Christine Kirkwood.

The Othello senior scored 38 points and grabbed 22 rebounds to lead her team to their first win of the season, as they beat CWAC foe Toppenish 76-61 on Saturday night.

Othello broke out to a 28-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and were never threatened.

Kirkwood also added six assists, three steals, and two blocked shots in her tour de force of a performance.

On Friday, Othello lost 57-51 at Grandview, failing to complete a rally from an early 12-point deficit.

Kirkwood finished with 32 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.
