Jose R. Hernandez

Jose R. Hernandez, "Little Joe," 92, passed away Tuesday, January 18th, 2011 at his home surrounded by his wife and family.

Jose was born in Valle de Santiago, GTO Mexico on February 14th 1918. He came to Moses Lake, Washington in 1954 to work in the Sugar Beets. He was hired by Harry Masto, as a lead foreman in 1960. Paul Hirai then purchased Maso Produce where Jose worked until his retirement. He was also employed by a local taxi service for many years, transporting Japan Airlines passengers to and from Spokane, Washington.

Jose was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, president of the Latin American Club, Sacred Heart Guild and other numerous Hispanic organizations.

Jose is survived by his wife Rosa, two sisters Julia, Mexico and Juanita, California. He is also survived by one son, Robert, eight daughters, Rachel Jalomo; Olga Gonzalez (Daniel); Francis Jalomo (Daniel); Carmen Oronia (Noel); Joanne Reyes; Gloria Mann; Josie Hernandez (Juan); and Yolanda Hernandez (Juvencio); four step-children Marisa Fernandez; Arnulfo Fernandez (Norma); Karina Fernandez; and Tanya Pimentel (Fabian). Jose also had numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held 12:00 pm-5:00 pm Thursday, January 20th, 2011 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, followed by a Holy Rosary at 6:00 pm. Holy Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Friday January 21st, 2011 at 10:00 am and he will be laid to rest at the Moses Lake Benson Cemetery.

Jose was preceded in death by his first wife, Maria, infant daughter Gloria Hernandez, daughter Mary Gonzales, daughter-in-law Dottie Hernandez, son-in-law Larry Mann, grandson James Gonzales, sisters Ramona, Ester and Concepcion.
