Alice Berg

Alice Berg, of Othello, died on January 16, 2011. Alice was born on February 25, 1911 in Russell, North Dakota to Norris and Alma Marsh.

She taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in North Dakota prior to marrying Hubert Berg on July 19, 1932. Hubert and Alice farmed most of their lives living in North Dakota, Oregon and Washington. She was a 50-plus year resident of Othello moving here in 1958 when she and Hubert purchased a farm NE of Othello. They were founding members of Paradise Lutheran Church in Othello. Alice was a church organist for most of her life, including for Paradise Lutheran, until her eyesight failed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Berg, in 1983 and daughter, Shirley Bartholomew, of DeQueen, Arkansas in 2008. She is survived by sons Lawrence Berg of Warden and Allen Berg of Othello, daughter, Joyce Fielding of Spokane, and sister, Izetta Krenz of Minot, North Dakota. Also surviving Alice are 19 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation is being held at Stevens Funeral Chapel on Thursday January 20, 2011 beginning at 3:00 and continuing until 7:00 PM. A celebration of Alice's life will be held on Friday January 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Othello Nazarene Church. Services are under the directions of Stevens Funeral Chapel.
