WILSON CREEK - Getting back on track can be smoother than a train on a railroad.

But sometimes it's nice to just run through the opposition and the Wilson Creek Lady Devils did just that last night as they ended a four-game losing streak with a 39-27 North Central Washington 1B league win.

The Lady Devils (4-8, 4-2) jumped out to a 12-5 lead in the game's first eight minutes to take control.

"We have shown a lot of improvement but still have a long way to go," Wilson Creek head coach Charlie Pierce said. "It was a good win we definitely needed. We needed it to keep our morale up."

Wilson Creek kept the pressure up with an 11-7 second quarter to lead by 11 at halftime.

"Our offense and defense have improved but we need to work on our transition game," Pierce said. "Our shooting and passing still need some work."

Thorp tried to keep things close in the second half but couldn't punch the deficit to much lesser than eight or nine points as the Lady Devils held on.

"We were able to pressure them a little bit tonight," Pierce said. "We were beginning to adjust to each other and read each other well. We are working a lot more smoothly."

Holly Wilson once again led the Lady Devils in scoring, putting up 10 points.

"Holly's play is good but it also forces other players to step up," Pierce said. "She is our tallest player and leads us in scoring and rebounding. Other girls are seeing her play and are starting to step up the plate."

Clarissa Hansen added nine points and Tori Diamond and Shoshana Lutz each scored six points for Wilson Creek.
