ZILLAH - On Wednesday night, the Warden Cougars continued to gear up for the Class 2B state finals with another dual against a strong Class 1A competitor.

The Cougars traveled to Zillah, one of the top teams in their class, and pulled out a 40-26 win.

"This match was one of the toughest teams we have faced so far this year," Warden head coach Rick Bowers said. "It was particularly challenging after our match with a solid Kiona-Benton the night before."

Warden earned its points via pin victories by J.P. Martinez (119-pounds), Carlos Gomez (125-pounds), Cesar Rangel (145-pounds), Gerino Luna (215-pounds), and Matt DeLeon (285-pounds).

Javier Tapia scored a 11-1 win at 112-pounds for the Cougars, while Scott Henderson escaped with a 6-4 victory at 140-pounds, and Hector Camacho pulled out an 11-9 triumph at 152-pounds.
