Icy roads cause more than 40 wrecks

ROYAL CITY - A propane semi truck rolled over and shut down Dodson Road for nearly 10 hours Thursday.
The semi truck driver lost control on ice, said Grant County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Ken Jones.
Firefighters determined the semi truck was not leaking any fluids or gas, he said.
At least two tow trucks had to work together to get the semi truck upright, he said.
The incident occurred five miles northeast of Royal City.
The semi truck belonged to a company from Montana and the driver suffered minor injuries, said Jones.
His name was not released by the sheriff's office.
The incident was just one of more than 40 reports of vehicle collisions deputies responded to as freezing temperatures caused slick roadways beginning at 5 a.m., according to Grant County Emergency Management spokesman Kyle Foreman.
Law enforcement opened Dodson Road late Thursday afternoon, after temperatures reached mid 30s.
Several school districts in the Columbia Basin closed due to icy roads and the need for buses to pick up students.
Schools in the Moses Lake, Ephrata, Royal City, Warden and Coulee-Hartline districts shut down, stated Foreman.
Moses Lake Christian Academy and St. Rose Lima-Ephrata Catholic School in Ephrata shut down as well.
The Soap Lake School District had a two hour delay due to weather conditions.
